Have news for you! The screenplay meeting with the director was amazing :)

This is my first time for writing a screenplay ever and the director said “Good job!”

Not certain yet, but I will probably be hosting the show!

The screenplay will be sent to the production firm on Monday and it will meet the project manager of the TV channel on Tuesday. Afterwards, we will wait for maybe 2 days maybe 2 months 🙂 Fingers crossed!

Today also one of my friends called and we talked for 2 hours. I missed girl-talk! Girlfriends are the best!

So far so good, and soooooo happy 🙂

I am a case study even worse than Cotillard…

I’ve just watched 2 Days, 1 Night movie starring Marion Cotillard, who was laid off during her sick leave as she was suffering from depression. She was informed informally by her coworker about this. Very similar to my case. But…

As I look back now, my case was far worse than her:

1. Economically, she was married and her husband also works, they own their own place and car, so no rent but a mortgage, which they can make a second mortgage or sell it as they own it.

I did not have anything, no car, no house and a high rent, not because my 50m2 flat is good but I live in a cosmopolitan city.

I did not have mortgage but had rent and payments of my PhD. I did not own anything worthy to sell.

So, economically I was worse off 🙂

2. Socially, she has people around her, a supporting positive-thinking husband who encourages her to fight for her job. I did not even have a boyfriend 🙂 She has two kids who are lovely. I do not even own a cat or a flower 🙂

3. Psychologically, my whole life was my career. For her, it was no more than a money-making job. I had major depression, was on sick leave for 3 days although she was for months. On the third day, I received an informal call like hers and they said “You are kicked out”. No voting, no chance to fight for it. It just happened. The worst thing was that, my so-called colleagues did not even say something against it. I was the one who had hired some of them. Can you believe that ?

It is like being stabbed from everywhere…

All the depression plus my auto-immune diseases including fibromyalgia, leaky gut, IBS, alopecia areata, urticaria, lichen planus plus candida, migraines, food allergies, fatigue etc. it is a miracle that I am still alive 🙂

Look where I am now. Quite a breakthrough? No, but maybe some breakthrough. At least, I am trying. Thanks to you, I have a reason to write. Some days were harder than the others for the past month, and those days, the only reason that I woke up was to write my blog and “try to try”.

Thank you for making me wanting to try everyday…

Love,

Alex

Today IMDb Top 250 project will be completed :) First project finale :)

I am watching the last film from the list: Seven Samurai by Kurosawa. I left one of the best ones to the end as a nice closure 🙂

Kurosawa and Miyazaki are by far my top heroes among all other great directors. Their talent in storytelling surpassed my expectations in many ways.

Movies, like books, are about storytelling. They use less words so it is not very easy when compared to books. Any subject, if told really good, can become a masterpiece.

That’s what I learned the best from the bests among IMDb Top 250. I will definitely use this in my future short films for my Filmmaking project.

Dog days are over or what?

Just finished watching Dog Day Afternoon with Pacino from my IMDb top 250 watchlist. I love this man. So real.

Free association to Dog Days Are Over by Florence + The Machine.

Watch IMDb 250 project update: 10 left :)

This one is too close to an achievement if you call watching movies an achievement 🙂 *

Here is what I’ve been so far: Alex’s scores on IMDB 250

I do as I am sick at home, it is much better than pitying myself and doing nothing 🙂 Here are what I learned through this journey:

New goal/project added :) I will make a short film with no bugdet :)

This one makes me very excited!

After watching all those movies from my watchlist of IMDb top 250, I got more and more amazed with filmmaking. I decided to make one myself. As a new project, I will make an appx 15 minutes long short film. To do that I will:

1. Learn how to wrtie a movie script, how to make a movie, how to produce it and how to act by reading books & online material, free courses, watching the best movies ever.

2. Write an original script.

3. Produce it including developing the team, production design, storyboard, art direction, casting, filming, editing, distribution etc.

How to make yourself a movie journal or watchlist on IMDb

Hey all 🙂

You can follow my watchlist of IMDBb top 250 on official IMDb site.

Link: http://www.imdb.com/user/ur57344172/

You can also make yourself one, just become a member for free and browse movies according to genre, year, ranking etc.

The user interface is quite good and it is a nice place to keep a MOVIE JOURNAL with all scores and comments.

Updated IMDB top 250 movies to be watched with compact critiques by Alex

Here is the list of IMDB top 250 and my status of watching, how many times I watched them and how I score them in my view.

To some movies, I get addicted and watch them over and over again rather than a new movie, so I wrote how many times I watched the movie too. These are the least possible numbers so I probably watched them more times than that :)))

I am a Star Wars nerd as you’ll see 🙂

So in this year I will watch the rest at least once.

Of course IMDB is not the only authority in selecting which movie to watch but public opinion is a good guide if the number of voters are global and many.

So for me, IMDB ranks is a better source than “artistically selective” film critiques.

My scores can be interpreted as follows:

1= so awful that I forced myself to finish it.

2 or 3=Yes it was “a movie”. That’s all. If you have so much time 🙂

4 or 5= tolerable for once

6=watchable

7=good

8=real good, fun

9=learned from the movie, loved it

10=Adore it! Learned so much from it!

HERE COMES THE LIST (will be updated as I watch)

UPDATES (24.12.2014)

I started my project with the Godfather I and II. Like but no love… Sorry. I am sick and tired of watching daddy issues.

DeNiro was good as Vito. Oh he has always been goooood 🙂

For Pacino, he was adorable in Scarface, not here… Diane Keaton especially was very bad in this one although I adore her for her comedies.

Today I watched City of God and I loooooved it. Loved every minute of it. Thank God for documentary-style cinema! So we can learn something instead of being fans of overrated mafia stories and daddy issues stuff.

Now I am watching Intouchables.

My all time fav is Gone with the Wind and i suppose it will remain the same.

Indian movies like “3 idiots” are in the list too!. I am glad, especially to see Aamir Khan more on educational issues.

That’s all for today. I will write and score as I watch throughout the year 🙂

UPDATES (25.12.2014)

Just watched The Beauty and the Beast and found it quite boring… Singing, dancing, same old same old. Where is the interpretation, a new twist to the story? Even parents get bored and add twists to stories they tell their kids before sleep!!!

Cannot compare this Disney things to real animes like Nausicaa or Spirited Away by Studio GhibliHayao Miyazaki. Better watch them again and again 🙂

Harry Potter, although very good story as a book, I hate the acting and directing of this sequel from the beginning. It runs so slow, they act so depressed. There should have been more humor in any adventure. It gives Twilight taste to me. 6/10 from me. Yawnnn :/

I will watch Dil Chahta Hai now! Aamir Khan is always good 🙂

NEW GOAL ADDED – MOVIES :)

4. THE MOVIE WATCH&WRITE PROJECT: Watch 100 “must watch” movies. When I looked at IMDB top 250 I realized I haven’t seen half of the list. What a shame! I do not watch TV so I have time for movies. While I am watching from the list, I will add my own little critiques about them and the rest I had watched earlier.
